In 2004 Humphrey Gumpo met exceptional artist and writer Fred Krakowiak. At the end of their safari having shared an incredible journey down the Zambezi River, Fred asked Humphrey, may you guide our party again in 2008 to which Humphreys answer was “Fred, I don’t where in the world I will be in 2008 but wherever I will be and regardless of what I will be doing then, I will travel to Mana Pools to guide you”.

2008 came and Humphrey guided Fred & Co. The safari was beyond expectation and left lifelong memories for those that ventured on it. Since then Fred Krakowiak has brought his family and friends on safari with Humphrey every year. This led to a strengthening of their relationship and when Fred decided to write his second book, dedicated to Zimbabawe, especially Mana Pools Humphrey was not far from mind.
